"Do Not Sell Personal Data" introduces an additional checkbox specifically for your US visitors, integrated directly into the Preferences popup. This feature enables your customers to approve or decline the sale of their personal data with ease.
Here's how it works:
- Activating the Feature: Within the Consentmo app, navigate to the Cookie Bar tab and find the Cookie Bar Behavior section. Here, you can enable the Do Not Sell Personal Data option that will show as an additional checkbox in the Preferences popup:
- Seamless Customer Experience: Once activated, US visitors will see the checkbox on your Preferences popup. A simple click empowers them to accept or decline the sale of their personal data. Declining will automatically block all third-party cookies, ensuring their preference is respected across your site.
When a visitor agrees to the Share or Sale of Personal Data category, they’re giving consent for their data to be collected and shared with third parties for marketing, attribution, and targeted advertising purposes. By default, this option is unchecked, meaning Shopify will block all third-party cookies. However, if the customer checks this option and consents, Shopify will then allow third-party cookies to be activated on the site.
