Step-by-Step Guide to Translating Consentmo via Translation Lab
In this article, we will show you how you can translate Consentmo app by using Translation Lab. Below you will find a step-by-step explanation, so let's get going.
Initial setting of the app
First, take a look at the admin side of the app.
1. Navigate to Apps section
2. Go to the Translation Lab - AI Translate
When entering the admin side of the app you will see the initial steps you need to go through in order to configure the app.
The first step is adding the language you want to use.
1. Navigate to Languages tab
2. Select the language you want to use and then click the Add button
3. Make sure to Publish the language. That way you will be able to start the translation process

Step number 2 is configuring the Language Switcher.
1. Navigate to Switchers tab
2. Then click on the Save button
Here is how the admin side of the app looks like after the integration of the language switcher.
Note: Make sure to remove the integration before deleting the app. That way no snippets of code will be left in your theme.
Once the language switcher is integrated you can enable and customize it by following these steps:
1. Navigate to the Themes section
2. Click on the Customize button
3. Go to the Theme settings
4. Then, navigate to the Translation Lab section located on the right side of the screen in order to enable and customize the switcher by your preferences
When you are done with the initial setup of the Translation Lab, it is time to show you how to translate the Cookie Bar and Preferences Popup of our app.
Translating the Consentmo app
Translation Lab offers two options for translating the Consentmo app - Manual Translation and Auto Translation.
Manual Translation
Here is how the Manual Translation works:
1. Navigate to the Translations tab
2. Select the language you want to use for translation
3. Then, choose Shop metafields as a resource type
4. By clicking on the Blue button you will add the translations in the text fields on the right side.
That way you can translate each part of the Cookie Bar and the Preferences Popup.

GDPR Compliance page can be translated by following the same steps.
1. Navigate to the Translations tab
2. Select the language you want to use for translation
3. Then, choose Pages as a resource type
4. By clicking on the Blue button you will add the translations in the text fields on the right side of the admin.

By submitting any request on this page, you will see that the additional messages are also translated to German.

Auto Translation
The second translation option is Auto Translation. Follow the steps below to see how it works:
1. Navigate to the Auto Translations tab
2. Click on the Scan button in order to check the translatable resources
3. The next step is to click on the Configure Auto Translate button
4. In order to translate the whole content of your store Select all as a resource type
5. Then, select what to translate. We recommend choosing Not-translated or Outdated option
6. Lastly, click the Translate button
Wait until the whole content of the store is translated and go to the storefront to check the result.

The Compliance pages are also translated, as well as the additional messages when submitting any request.
